4Mark Sections

Park the song where a new part begins, type what it is — Intro, Verse, Chorus — and press ＋. Use the same names as your Formation Pro formations and the two sheets line up.

Questions Teachers Ask

Can I use Spotify or Apple Music?

No. Streaming apps encrypt their audio so no website can read it — that is enforced by your browser, not a limitation we can remove. Use the music file itself: the mix your music editor sent back, a track you purchased and saved, or a file from a CD. Anything bought from the iTunes Store works; only Apple Music subscription downloads are locked.

Where do I get the file?

Most teachers already have it — competition mixes come back from the editor as an MP3 or WAV, and recital music is usually a purchased download. Save it into a folder on your computer, then open it here. On a tablet, save it to Files first.

Does my music get uploaded?

Never. The file is read straight from your drive and stays there. Dance Teacher Web never receives, stores or transmits your music, and your saved count sheets hold your counts and notes — not the audio.

Do I have to know the BPM?

No. Press Find The Beat For Me and the tool works it out from the music itself. Tapping is there as a backup if a track has an unusual feel.

What is "count 1"?

The very first beat you would count "1" on. Songs usually have an intro before it, so it is rarely at 0:00. Get this right and every 8-count in the song lines up automatically.

How do I know it is right?

Turn the click on and play 30 seconds. If the click sits on the beat the whole way, you are set. If it slides off, press Find The Beat For Me again or nudge the BPM.

Loop and Clean

Select a section, turn on Loop, drop the speed to 75%, and the hardest eight counts repeat forever while you clean them.

Name Sections Like Formations

If your Formation Pro staging sheet calls it "Chorus," call it "Chorus" here. Then the count sheet and the staging sheet read as one document.

Print for the Binder

The PDF lists every 8-count with its timestamp and your notes. Hand it to a substitute teacher and they can run your rehearsal.

What about a waltz?

Set How do you count this music? to 3s. Everything renames itself — the counter shows 1-2-3, the groups become 3-counts, and the click accents every "1". Same for 6s, 4s, 2s or an odd metre.
