Personal Time: Refresh Your Look

Teaching long hours and coming out of those cold winter months can leave your skin lacking in youthful radiance.  Jumpstart your glow factor with these easy youth enhancing secrets:

Stay out of the sun!

Nothing makes you look older than deep wrinkles and sun spots due to sun damage. Wear a sunscreen daily. Try at least an SPF 45 for longer lasting protection. Don’t forget the tops of your hands and your chest.  Wear a hat and good sunglasses for added protection.

Curl your eyelashes.

This simple trick will lift and open eyes, creating a more rested look.

Use a shadow base to prevent creasing.

Creasing, blotchy eye shadow ages your appearance.  Use eye shadow sparingly over a shadow base.

Highlight facial shadows around the base of nose, inner eye corner, lip corners and outer upper cheekbone.

Use a foundation one shade lighter than your every day shade to create lift and highlight around shadows that age your facial features.

Keep skin dewy: Moisturize and mist.

Hydrate day and night with a healthy facial cream. Create your own or get a facial mist to not only set makeup, but also restore valuable minerals and moisture back to the skin for added radiance.

Exfoliate with products containing salycilic acid, glycolic, alpha hydroxy acid or retinol.

Remove dead skin daily to reveal new, even, glowing skin to enhance your beauty and make your skin silky, smooth and blemish-free.

Brighten lips and keep moist

Create fullness in center with lipstick highlighter.  Seal lips to prevent running into lines around mouth. Apply a moisturizing lipstick with a little color to it like rose, coral or pink, then add a shimmering lip gloss to the center of the upper and lower lip to tone it down and create a little youthful pout. Use a Lipstick Sealer (see modedion.com) to prevent running.

Line and shadow upper lid and avoid color on lower lash line.

Avoid lining the upper and lower eye lid. This can create an over-done look that can be very aging. Try to line the outer corner of the upper lid only. Avoid black liner and instead choose brown or plum tones. Line the lower lash lid with white eye pencil for a real eye opener.

Highlight hair around face and deep condition.

Soft highlights around the face lift and create a youthful sunkissed effect. Even a hairstyle that layers around the face can help. Shiny hair is a must to look healthy. Deep condition once a week to keep hair soft and silky.
